Scripture Scribbles: Cartoons from the Choir Loft

Phillip Dillman is a man of faith, music and cartoons. Each Sunday, Dillman sings in his church choir and sketches cartoons about the day’s sermon. Dillman’s scripture scribbles, which are conceptualized and drawn in a span of about 15 minutes, add a humorous twist and perhaps a bit more appreciation to the traditional Bible stories. In case you might think this is a heretical work, think again as the foreword was written by Dillman’s pastor.h.

The Buzz:

Pinnacle Writing – Thomas Drinkard

Goodreads Review

Another wonderful review for Phillip Timothy Dillman and Scripture Scribbles: “I love these cartoons! Not only do they reveal Phillip Dilman’s (and God’s!) droll sense of humor, they also provide an tutorial for preachers who thought the choir was actually listening to their sermons.” The Rev. Mary Farr (Yes, Noah’s Mom. She is a woman of the cloth.)

Review from Ginger Truitt:

Phillip Dillman’s Scripture Scribbles does away with the notion that combining Scripture with humor results in sacrilege.  His clever insight causes the reader not only to laugh out loud, but to also pause and think more deeply about the Bible stories that we have known and loved since childhood. Occasionally, his cartoons poke a bit of refreshing fun at the issues in today’s church, and traditions that make little sense in light of the true meaning of Scripture. Literal interpretations of Christian lingo will amuse and challenge.  As Job 8:21 states, “Your mouth will be filled with laughter!”
